Happy New Year!
After a long stint in Washington, it has been so nice to spend the last few weeks in the district. I enjoyed being with family, attending holiday festivities, and, most of all, meeting constituents. It’s always nice to be home for the holidays and hear about the issues that are on your minds. In the new year, you will have a few opportunities to interact with my office so be sure to read until the end to learn about our upcoming events, such as our State of the District addresses on January 25th and our Carolina Coffee meet & greet on February 21st.
Congresswoman Adams invites you to her State of the District Address!
In order to accommodate as many people as possible, I will be delivering my address two times, once in Cabarrus County and again in Mecklenburg County. Both events will also be streamed live on our Facebook page. All attendees are asked to please RSVP and submit questions in advance.

2024 Congressional Arts Competition Now Open
Our office is now accepting submissions for the 2024 Congressional Art Competition from high school students who live in or attend school in North Carolina's 12th Congressional District.
Each spring, the Congressional Institute sponsors a nationwide high school visual art competition to recognize and encourage artistic talent in the nation and in each congressional district. Since the Artistic Discovery competition began in 1982, more than 650,000 high school students have participated.
Students submit entries to their representative’s office, and panels of district artists select the winning entries. Winners are recognized both in their district and at an annual awards ceremony in Washington, DC. The winning works are displayed for one year at the U.S. Capitol.
The deadline for submissions is May 1.

In case you missed it…
During one of my committee meetings, I felt compelled to speak up for women’s rights to decide what happens to their bodies:
"I never understood why they don’t talk about what *men* do with their bodies... How about we ban vasectomies for men…or maybe we get government out of the bedroom?”
I look forward to seeing you on January 25th at the Cabarrus Event and Arena or at Mallard Creek High School. Be sure to follow us on social media for weekly updates. That’s where I’ll lay my hat for this week. Thanks for reading!
Sincerely,
Alma
