Adams 🚨 Alert: Veterans Day
Congresswoman Alma Adams honors our nation's veterans; Votes on key appropriations packages; Satellite office hours will take place in Huntersville this month
Happy Veterans Day!
Dear Constituents,
As we recently celebrated Veterans Day, a momentous occasion to honor and express our deepest gratitude to those who have selflessly served our nation, I am reminded of the immeasurable sacrifices made by our brave veterans. As the daughter, granddaughter, niece, and sister of veterans, I intimately understand the challenges and sacrifices veterans and their families endure. I acknowledge that support for our troops extends far beyond their time in active service, persisting through the transition to civilian life.
In alignment with this understanding, I have made it a steadfast priority to ensure our veterans receive the comprehensive support they deserve. Guided by the belief that their dedication merits more than just gratitude, my commitment extends to securing quality education, facilitating career development, ensuring access to healthcare, and providing vital support services. It is an honor to represent over 37,000 veterans in North Carolina's 12th District, and I remain resolute in my dedication to advocating for their needs. Together, let us celebrate and acknowledge the profound contributions of our veterans, not just on Veterans Day but every day.
With gratitude,
Congresswoman Alma Adams
H.R. 6363 – Further Continuing Appropriations and Other Extensions Act, 2024
From the very beginning of this Congress, House Democrats have made clear that we will always put people over politics and try to find common ground with our Republican colleagues wherever possible, while pushing back against Republican extremism whenever necessary. That is the framework through which we will evaluate all issues before us this Congress. But once again Democrats bailed out the majority governing party in the House of Representatives since they could not decide to do it alone themselves. We have consistently made clear that a government shutdown would hurt the economy, our national security and everyday Americans during a very fragile time and must be avoided. It’s important that Congress comes together to advance the supplemental national security and domestic policy funding of our government.
I voted YES.
Democratic Motion to Table Privileged Resolution – Impeaching Alejandro Nicholas Mayorkas, Secretary of Homeland Security, for high crimes and misdemeanors
This attempt at impeaching a cabinet Secretary was thwarted by Democrats and a handful of Republicans who had sound minds and judgement to know that this was wrong. Yet again Marjorie Taylor Greene displayed her yearning to only use her time in Washington, for partisan games and illegitimate rationale for her actions. This motion passed and the privileged resolution offered failed to receive an opportunity for a vote on the House floor.
I voted YES.
Adams Celebrates Local Food Promotion Grant Award to Charlotte-Based Food Hub
USDA investment will bolster Freshlist’s efforts to connect local producers to consumers.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (October 31, 2023) – Congresswoman Alma S. Adams, Ph.D. (NC-12) celebrated Freshlist, a Charlotte-based food hub located in the 12th Congressional District, for its $749,669 award of a Local Food Promotion Program (LFPP) grant by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Agricultural Marketing Service.
“Especially after the pandemic, demand for locally grown food has soared in the district, and businesses like Freshlist have responded to meet the moment,” said Congresswoman Adams, a senior member of the House Agriculture Committee. “USDA’s award will ensure that Freshlist can build out the infrastructure, workforce, and marketing needs that are critical to supporting our families, farmers, and local food system.”

We are thankful for our Fall interns in both our Washington, D.C. and Charlotte offices. This is our first Fall intern spotlight, and we are so excited to share these outstanding students with the community!
Karsyn Koon is a senior at UNC Charlotte and is majoring in Political Science, Criminal Justice, and Spanish alongside minoring in International Studies. She is quite involved with her UNCC community, where she serves as the SGA Lieutenant Chief Justice and participates in a number of student organizations. Additionally, she participates in her local community by volunteering continuously with local nonprofits such as International House and has formed connections with her broader community via internships and study abroad experiences. Karsyn is currently preparing to attend law school after graduation, where she plans to focus on criminal law.
That’s where I’ll lay my hat for this week. Thanks for reading!
Sincerely,

Alejandro Nicholas Mayorkas should have been Impeached. His lack of appropriate action has put the citizens of the US at risk.
Thank you for your work to support Veterans and your vote regarding Mayorkas. Some Republicans are making a mockery of impeachment and I am glad to see reason prevailed.
